No More Drama. Every little thing, gonna be alright...

I can actually feel the frown lines trickling across my forehead as I type the following words out of this blog -  throw in some puzzled feelings for good measure, and a head that is shaking from side to side in disbelief. Add in a heartbeat that was beating a little fast some hours ago at the pure frustration I was feeling at the time, but is now filled with a sense of calm patience and even a laugh in between breaths.

The following words do not apply to all my beloved fans. They apply to some people who I'm beginning to question if they really are fans. Cause I know from experience that true blue fans are not demanding of constant attention, are very giving people, and as an artist and an actress, are amazing people I've had the pleasure of engaging with. :)

Every new recording artist or band is always encouraged and told how important it is to engage with their fans. Without the fans, you've got nothing. Record companies will come and go, but the true blue fans, will always be there for you, no matter what. They don't judge, they don't cause trouble - they're there to support you and your career through thick and thin. I'm really lucky and very proud of the fan base I have. They are some pretty amazing people of all ages, - always encouraging and supportive and so giving towards myself, my career, and to the other fans on my social pages. So it was really disheartening when I found out SOME people who call themselves, 'fans', started to turn against other genuine fans on my page, and turned a creative, and supportive page into a hate fest page - and a 'you said this, and did that', 'point your fingers at the other' kind of drama. In between the lines, leaked a pile of jealousy and cattiness which I've never experienced before on my page. I was so disappointed, I can't tell you.

I'm not perfect. Far from it. I'm not the Queen, I'm not the god mother, or agony aunt, but a girl who is working hard in seeing her childhood dreams through, and trying to make a difference by encouraging other people, no matter how young or old, in following their dreams too. My facebook or twitter pages are all about the music, the acting, all things creative, charity, awareness for good causes, and being a place that's fun and inspiring to come to. It is NOT a place where some people can start cat fights, and creating drama on. I won't have it. I will not allow for the tone of my page to be ruined by some of these people, which my fans and I have worked so hard in creating on these pages. I really hate to do this, but in order to protect and show respect to the real fans, I'm going to have to delete (which I have never done before) any topics which do not relate to what my page stands for. For those to who this applies to, I am not angry. I am not pointing fingers. I just simply do not have the time nor the energy to focus and give to negative dramas, or negativity amongst each other on my page. End of story. I do not want to get involved and it is neither my place to. That is not why I am on everyday on my facebook or twitter page. I log in everyday so that I may show my appreciation and engage with my fans. I will not be made to feel guilty for tweeting one fan or another or commenting on a facebook feed. It is not favouritism, it is me simply trying to reach out to fans when I am able to. I cannot respond to every single tweet, facebook comment or message that comes my way. It is physically impossible, and it saddens me that I even have to write this or justify this at all to some of you who find it hard to understand this. If I choose to respond to one fan one day, trust me that I will respond to another fan, another day, or invite them to another event, to give EVERYONE a chance. Whatever grudges or opinions some of you may have towards other fans on my pages, keep it off my page, please, otherwise, I have to give this warning now, you will be removed from the page. Again, this only applies to the 5% of those people who caused this drama in the first place. My true blue fans NEVER give me these problems, and I love them more for it.

As always, I want to move forward from this, and I do not want to have to write on this subject again. This is not the blog I originally wanted to write about today, but after yesterday's fiasco, I had no choice but to step in and write this.

Moving on to the subject of street teams. A lot of new recording artists have street teams. They are run usually by the fans. EVERYONE is welcome to join. It is not a clique. I support ALL the street teams created for me by my fans. What is a street team? It is a bunch of genuine fans who want to help spread the word about my music, my acting, my blogs and charitable causes. I appreciate every single one of those fans on the various street teams, who have sacrificed their time and energy to support my career. Does it make me love them more than my other fans who CHOOSE not to be on the street team? NO. I know not all my fans have the time to give for some of the activities that street teams do. And that is totally fine and doesn't make them less a fan then the ones on the street team. If you have any suggestions or ideas on ways of moving forward with the street team, then please join, and get active and share your thoughts. I encourage you, and it's a lot of fun too!

On a final note, I want to say a huge thank you to all the fans that support me near or from afar, who tweet me or facebook me every now and then, or even from the ones I don't hear from all the time, but yet, are always there for me, to support my music or acting roles. You guys are the unsung heroes. You support openly and genuinely and yet expect nothing back. Those are the kinds of people I have in my life, in my family and friends, and what I try my best to do myself. Giving is so much more rewarding than taking. I know I have those fans behind me, and those are the kinds of fans I cherish. That is a true blue fan. I salute them, and will continue to write music for them, act in roles which I hope they will enjoy, and most of all, respect them and protect the fun, encouraging, supportive and inspiring 'isms' which my social pages are all about.

Onwards and upwards. Time to smile, enjoy life, and celebrate each other, and be grateful for all the wonderful things we do have.

Yours always, KD xxx

  1. It's really sad that you had to write this blog but I hope that it makes an end to all this bitchyness. I dont know facts, nor do I want to know them. I'm here because I love you and everything you're about. I, like many other fans have made a lot of friends via your facebook and twitter and have been really disappointed by all the cattiness. It's so immature and I don't have time for it.

You are such an amazing person and you give up so much time for us what with all your twitcams, blog, tweets, updates and events. I cannot thank you enough. I will continue to support and follow you and will continue talking to everyone and hopefully making some new friends on the way. Life is too short. We all need to make the most of what and who we have.

As ever, I hope you are well and enjoying La La Land! Cannot wait to hear all your new music!

    Much Love,
    Laura

  3. I agree that it is sad to see that you have had to highlight something negative when you are such a positive person! Yet, as ever, this was another amazing blog and I really do hope that those people involved read it and understand that they are wrong.

Just know for that each person that wants to spread unhappiness there are hundreds of us that are there to support you and love what you do :)

Thanks for being so inspiring and I hope to read one of your usual happy, thought provoking blogs soon x

  7. This is both thought provoking and a little sad that you have to do it in the first place, I guess this is part of being a public figure, you will always attract some people who want to drive their own agenda. I have not read all of the bits on Facebook, and do not intend to, it's not worth the time.

There was a bit in one of the previous blogs about bullying, and it is equally relevant here, just rise above it and ignore them. Why should we lower ourselves to their level?

Looking forward to the new album and the TV Pilot....

Take care and love & hugs

  8. Gosh, that almost broke my heart, you have such an amazing way with words! I'm an EXTREMLEY opinionated person, & if i see one of my friends being picked on then, yes i'll say something, i do know my own faults, but you're right, it shouldn't be said on your page. We're here for you. NOBODY ELSE. but i just want to say thankyou, for being you & having some truly amazing superheroes, i dont know what i would have done without some of them. They're truly incredible& my bestfriends!
    Forever a superhero!

  9. Hey Karen :D

Well to be perfectly honest with you..I haven't got a clue what is going on? LMAO, my mom said I walk around with my eyes closed :O could explain why I keep bumping into things ;) haha...I was impressed by your use of CAPS there K lol..haven't noticed them in your earlier blogs :O but like I say, I walk around with my eyes closed most of the time haha. But seriously Karen (yep I can be sometimes lol) I think all of that needed saying...there are some small minded peeps in this world..who never try to see the bigger picture...well you genius..you just created that with this blog YAY ( see I can use CAPS too haha ;) You know I admire you already..I don't need to tell you that :) you know I totally respect you too :) but that comes from admiring and respecting yourself Karen :) and all those small minded peeps..obviously don't admire or respect themselves, you are one busy person Karen, they have to understand that. Just like when I'm busy and maybe I don't tweet u or superheroes or fb, it don't mean I've forgotten bout any of you, it just means, I will be in contact as soon as I can :) take notice of this blog superheroes, cuz it is awesome..just like the person who wrote it :) with love, respect and admiration to a fellow human being, and an awesome person, love you Karen you rock!! love always @cheekykash xox

  10. Wow, I had no idea what was going on! I guess this is the one case I'm glad I don't have time to stay on top of everyone's goings-on. It's sad that a few people can color someone's blog/FB page/etc. And I'm so sorry that it affects you personally, when you don't have any real control over it. Hopefully, this will be the end of it and the people involved are mature enough to check themselves. I've been watching you and your career over the years and am simply amazed to see the well-deserved progression. I'm excited to see where you're going and pleased to be tiny part of your journey. It was inevitable you'd hit some minor bumps (like crazed fans), but just remember the one common denominator is that we all started out sharing a passion for what you do. Please don't let the actions of a few get you down. You have far more people supporting you. We (I) appreciate your efforts to stay connected to your fans and if you feel the need to prune that tree for the good of everyone, I'm sure your true fans will understand. So don't worry and be happy. =)

  12. Hey Guys. Thanks for your feedback, advice and opinions. I'm okay. :) Today is a new day. At the time, I was just disappointed in some of the peeps taking it out on each other and turning it all into one unnecessary mess because they seem to think I favour one fan over the other. I can only be me, and continue to show the love to ALL my fans. I cannot control what people think and there will always be the good, the bad, and the ugly, but that's okay. I am grateful for the wonderful fans that I do have, and that's all that matters. :) Love to you all! K xo

  13. Oh wow, how did they figure out that you favored me over others? =P Amazingly perceptive, they are! Ha! The day I have people fighting over my attention like they fight for yours is...well, that was a day I had back in high school and I guess I can keep reliving those glory days until the end of time. Stay awesome, KD. Everything's gonna be alright.

  14. Hey Karen,
Every time you write a blog, i always read it along with you on Twitcam and tell you how awesome it is either on FB or Twitter, but never on here so Im breaking my routine ha. PS: Cant wait for the blog that was meant to be written, I'm sure it will be in my inbox soon enough :) xox

Karen, its so sad that u had to write this blog instead of the one planned. I agree with you that all the cat fights are ruining the happy atmosphere on your page. I think your page isnt there for people to spread hate, its there to inspire people. it inspires me a lot! People who use your page as an excuse to be bitchy, clearly arent true fans, they just need somewhere to bitch and clearly thats the place. Please Karen, know that i and every other true fan absolutley adores you!! i understand you cant reply to me all the time, and it really doesnt bother me. because i know you still care about me even though you might not reply to every tweet or facebook comment. People who obsess over getting a reply are just selfish. I know people who didnt get invited to June 7th had a strop. i mean seriously i didnt get invited but i didnt make a huge fuss over it. I accepted it, and was happy for everyone who did go and hoped they enjoyed themselves. Karen i want you to know, im not on your page, to spread hate or abuse, im there to support your every move, acting, singing. I am a true fan, who will always stick by you no matter what you may choose to do. People can hate all they want, but Karen you have a huge fan group that really do love you
