I am asked all the time about my thoughts on rejection, and believe you me, I have had my fair share of rejection on all levels, both in past relationships, friendships, and in my career. It's something I am proud of. It says I'm human, like everyone else, and whilst it may pinch like no tomorrow, the fear and perhaps hurt feelings at the time, begin to wear thin and we end up surprising ourselves, with just how strong we are. It's okay to love ourselves and it's okay to forgive ourselves too. Where there's rejection, there is a lesson learned, and a renewed hope for something so much better, waiting for us, that we deserve.
80% of the time, the answer is a 'no'. But the other times, 20% is a 'yes' and that is what you have to focus on. I am not one to sugar coat anything. But if your love and passion for making that particular dream come true,(whatever it may be) is palpable, and more then 100%, then that 80% is irrelevant and is nothing but a drop of water in the ocean.
No excuses. No over thinking anything. I just follow my heart and my instinct and do what feels right, because I know I only have this one life to live, and life is really too short and precious to not live the life I want for myself. Now what about you....:)

Karen, why do people call you the girl in the pink glasses? And thanks for following+retweeting me on twitter:D xxx
ReplyDeleteHello Anonymous. :) (Sorry I don't know your name)
DeleteThanks for your post. The Girl In The Pink Glasses describes me when I was a teenager: awkward looking, zit faced, finding my way into the great big world, kind of thing. lol I wore these pink speckled rimmed glasses and I still have them. They are the essence of who I am...the happy and geeky girl I was, and probably still am! lol I look at it as a term of endearment, and am grateful for all those teen years, as they build up your character and who you are. :) x
This is beautiful. You're so inspirational. I will learn from this and think of you. Thank you for everything! I am no going to focus on that 20% of YES! Lots of love :') xx
ReplyDeleteEmilycherylox, I am happy you liked the 'thought of the day'. If you have any good 'thought of the day' ideas, just let me know! xo
DeleteKaren , Thank You For This Much Needed Blog :) x
ReplyDeleteJenna, I'm glad you could relate to it. Just know that you're not alone on any of these things which we all face. :)
DeleteI really loved this blog entry!
ReplyDeleteRejection is something everyone will face at some point in their lives. I faced it not so long ago. At the time it wasn't nice but as time went on I realised it was meant to be. My Mum always tells me "what's for you, won't pass you" so whenever I get rejected or things don't turn out how I planned, I think of that :)
This blog is a great help, as always!
Thanks K xo
Jenny, your dear Mother is right. Aren't most Moms always right? lol My mother seems to be right too about a lot of things. I like your Mom's advice, 'what's for you, won't pass you.' Thanks for posting that. I'll keep that in my head too! xo

Hey Karen, thank for such an inspiring and moving blog - i think it touch me most because rejection is one of those daily occurrences in my life and this blog has taught me to look at the positive and keep striving towards that 20% of a yes! I think i've really just got to believe in myself and look at the positives and come back fighting.
ReplyDeleteI love this!! comparing the rejection to a "...drop in the ocean" was my favourite part, I shall definitely be using that quote! you're keeping it real and true, whilst creating hope and inspiration :) no matter what the odds against me are, i'll never stop trying to make my dreams come true! xxx Sian Youde xxx

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you are going through bullying, especially cyber bullying. Bullies can be relentless can't they? The sad thing is that they are hurting and suffering over problems which have nothing to do with us. This may sound unthinkable, but you need to find the strength to forgive them. It's when you can forgive them, (and I don't mean necessarily speaking with them, unless it feels right to you to communicate with them) that you can let go, and whatever they do won't bother you, like water off a duck's back. YOU are in control of how you feel and react and they can NEVER take that away from you. Remember that, and trust me, I've been there and know all too well what it's like. This worked for me, and eventually, they got tired and bored and realised that nothing they did had an effect on me. If anything, it made me stronger, and more determined to make something of myself which I could be proud of. I know you can do that too. You are stronger then you give yourself credit for. I wrote a blog when I first started this blog site. Hope this helps. Chin up and if you ever need to talk to someone, then I strongly encourage you to speak with your parents, and teachers. It helped me a lot!

ReplyDeletehaha. Well just remember, Lady G, that for every door that closes, another one will open and it'll be an even better one! ;) xo
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible such and inspiration. Made me think about things I've been trying to avoid the past few days. It made me realize that you shouldn't leave things to late. But then what happens if you fall for someone you shouldn't off? and you know it's not aloud to be?x
ReplyDeleteThankyou very much for replying to my bullying question it helped alot eventhough i got over 100 new horrible messages seen as my friends have told these people major secrets about me.I've got a teacher at school i could talk to seen as i can't talk to my parents about things. Have you got any tips on how to approach/ tell her. Thankyou lovely Karen i can't believed you were bullied you're amazing xooxoxxo
ReplyDeleteHey Karen your blog was inspiring and helpful as it always is!! ( i did read this when it was posted but wasn't able to comment... the joys of technology). It is really great that you've addressed the fact that people need to just try and be the best they can be, learn from the knock back because they are what makes you stronger and get back in their fighting! You blogs are always great when I am feeling a bit low or in need of a bit inspiration or a pep talk!
ReplyDeleteThank you lovely!! :')
Lots of love
Madeleine xx
